Boston KinderHarvest Gets Underway

As a volunteer with a 3-year program for 6, 7, and 8 grade inner city youth with focus on literacy, life skills and tennis here in Boston, as well as helping out at a local elementary school and boys and girls club, I see the need for getting interesting reading materials to children every day. I also want to focus on helping shelters and food banks because that seems to be a very dire need.

Here are some of my initial ideas and efforts:

  • Nunavut Inuit Families

    Education Program
    1,500 children and adults

    Needs: 250 magazines and comics
    National Geographic Little Kids, National Geographic Readers Digest, Sports Illustrated, education and fishing magazines, and comics.

  • New York Foundling

    Foster Care
    18 boys and 24 girls
    New York, NY USA
    Needs: 42 Magazines
    Magazines Requested: LUCKY magazine, J-14, Popstar, Teen Voices, Girls Life and Sports related.

  • Project Shoe Box

    Foster Care, Care Packages
    40 male and females age 5-18
    Wauwatosa, WI, USA
    Needs: 40 Magazines
    Any Magazines
