A New Leaf has been helping families…changing lives for over 40 years. From caring for the homeless at our family and men’s shelters, to providing safe haven for survivors of domestic violence and their children; from detention alternative programs for youth to foster care programs and behavioral health counseling for children. We serve as a catalyst to self-knowledge and change and do so with compassion, sincerity, and clarity of purpose.
Through the use of magazines, we hope to focus on helping teenagers in our residential treatment centers who have a history of trauma or abuse. These teens have long histories of failure to engage in the educational process. The color pictures of magazines will draw them in and make them curious enough to read the accompanying story. Our hope is that they will read for the joy of learning something interesting and that this in turn will raise their reading level in the classroom.
