Adult Literacy Plus Of Southwest Arizona

Adult Literacy Plus of Southwest Arizona is a full time advocate for adult literacy in Southwest Arizona.  As mentors, we change lives through outreach programs, workplace training, education, and tutoring. Our program facilitates success within the family, workplace, and community. We exist to help adults ages 16 and older make their educational goals a reality by helping them receive the skills necessary to obtain their GED, improve their basic skills, learn English, prepare for the workforce, or enter post-secondary educational facilities.

Our students do not live in literacy rich environments. Many of students do not own any books, and would not read them if they did.  Student surveys indicate that they believe reading is boring and not necessary. We believe that the use of magazines would be beneficiary for our students because they contain high interest stories and pictures. Even a reluctant reader can find articles that will interest them, and that’s the beauty of magazines.
