Join us to end illiteracy and poverty.

Literacy ends poverty in a nutshell.

Freedom and prosperity depend on literacy. The Annie E. Casey Foundation reports that there are over 18 million U.S. children in poverty. According to the U.S.Dept. of Education, there are over 1 million homeless students in American schools. Reading is Fundamental says that a shocking two-thirds of children in poverty – more than 12 million – have no books at home – zero. As a result, infants in poor households hear 30 million fewer words vital for growing their brain’s circuitry. Each night, 35,000+ women, many who are moms with children, leave all they own behind to seek the safety of a domestic abuse shelter. There are nearly 400,000 U.S. foster kids, and countless orphans, worldwide.

Magazines and comics are enormously powerful reading resources for literacy programs. inspires consumers and businesses to put favorite magazines and comics into the hands, homes, and hearts of at-risk children and families who want to learn and love to read.

With your support, operates a crowdfunded literacy marketplace to meet literacy needs with bundles of recycled and new magazines and comics for at-risk readers – moms and kids in domestic violence and homeless shelters, youth in mentoring and job training programs, foster care, and other community literacy programs. We get favorite magazines and comics into the hands, homes, and hearts of children and families.

How it works.

  1. Literacy Programs register and post literacy needs by creating a wishlists of magazines and comics, and placing orders in our online marketplace.
  2. Consumers and Businesses fund new and send recycled magazines and comics for literacy.
  3. Magazines and comics get to new readers via literacy programs.

Our mission is to operate a vibrant literacy marketplace that shares the MAGic and power of reading magazines and comics with at-risk children and families who want to learn and love to read.

Thanks to the tremendous support of magazine and comic book lovers, our project shares the comfort and joy of reading with hundreds of thousands of children and families.
